Fall Festival Quests Guide

Posted on 15. Oct, 2009 by Goldenstar in Events, Festival Guides

So the fall festival is here and you’re wondering what it’s all about. What is there to do? What items are available? Well fear not because this is your definitive place for answers for all things Fall Festival!

If this isn’t your first Fall Festival there really isn’t much new for you. The main difference is that the race for the Harvestmath mount is no longer operational. The mount is now purchased through barter items. We’ll go through all that in the rewards section.

The main barter item for this event are Fall Festival Tokens. The important thing to realize here is that the quests to earn these items are repeatable.

The quests are mostly broken up into four major regions in Middle Earth.

First I will go over the little things to do in each of these four areas. The second section of this guide will go over the Troves and Trickery quests for each of the races. These quests are also repeatable and the first time you go through them, they may seem a bit tricky and confusing so I think they warrant their own section. Finally I will list out the rewards available and where to get them so you can turn in all your hard earned tokens here.

What’s not included in this guide
The festivals of Middle Earth include quests that appear with each and every festival. This would include the dance quests and the Inn League quests and the Traveling Farmer quest. Please see our guide on these General Festival Quests.

APPLES, PUMPKINS, SCROLLS & GEODES

Game-Master In each of the four festival areas there is a Game-Master that will have a barter icon over his or her head. These folks are not difficult to find. They’re generally in the middle of the area.

Directly next to the game master there will be some sort of item that when you mouse over it you will see your cursor change to a loot icon. In Bree this is a pumpkin patch, in Thorin’s Hall it’s a geode box, Duillond has a scroll box and the Shire you will find an apple tub.

When you loot this item you will randomly receive one of three items. Barter your item to the nearby Game-Master for Fall Festival Tokens. The smaller or lesser of the items are worth 1 token, medium are worth 2 and larger items are worth 3 tokens. These are based on luck so just cross your fingers and click!

After receiving your item, you will find a buff applied to your character that prevents you from picking up another of the same item for an hour. You can run to all four places and do each of the these items as each has their own hour long buff.

TROVES AND TREASURES

Trickster of the Shire
There are four repeatable quests for each of the races of Middle Earth. These quests are in the same location as all the other party activities with the exception Breeland. Troves and Treasures is found in Bree the town itself, not on the Festival Grounds.

The premise for all four quests are the same. The quest giver will be titled as a “Trickster”. He wants you to find 4 people to trick. The trickster gives you no clues of who you are to find. They do not have rings that appear on your mini-map like most quest objectives. Instead they have the “quest in-progress” ring above their head in most cases but even this unreliable as some are vendors or some other profession and have that icon over their head instead.

When you find the person you are to trick, you speak with them and they will give you a small clue as to what they wish to see. You must have the person targeted and perform the proper emote that they are hoping for. Find all four and return to the Trickster for your selectable rewards. Your choices are for 3 Fall Festival Tokens or a mask token. There are four different mask tokens (one per race) that are used to receive a costume item for your character to wear. See the rewards section of this guide for more information.

Oh yeah, and these quests are timed. You have to find all four people, perform your emotes and return within 20 minutes. It’s not that difficult if you know where you are going! So here are the locations of the Tricksters and their targets with the emote you must perform!

REWARDS
By now you have a bag full of tokens that need spending! Here’s the things you can buy.

Masks
Each of the holiday masks require 12 Fall Festival Tokens plus a mask token. The mask token you have will determine which costume you can purchase. These masks are purchased from the Game-Masters in each of the cities. Here are the different masks available:

Take your 12 tokens plus your mask token to the appropriate race’s Game-Master to barter for a costume!

Man's Beaver Mask Dwarve's Bucket Mask Elves' Rabbit Mask Hobbit's Pumpkin Mask

Mount
harvestmath Your choices are a Harvestmath Pony for Dwarves and Hobbits and Harvestmath Horse for Elves and Men. The cost for one of these items is as follows:

A Festival Run Token used to be the item you won from the Festival Race. This race is no longer active so you simply barter regular Fall Festival Tokens for this item now. 40 Fall Festival Tokens will get you a Festival Run Token. Look for the “Fall Festival Trader” in the festival area to purchase the Run Token.

IMPORTANT: Do not go to the “Fall Festival Trader” for your mount. Rather go up Hengstacer’s Farm north of the festival ground and find Cam Applewood. He sells the exact same mounts as the Festival Trader but only charges 6 Fall Festival Tokens instead of 12! (thanks to Everyuki and Aegloborn for alerting us to this tip!)

This means you will need a total of 46 Fall Festival Tokens for a Harvestmath Mount. Because of the Receipt of Purchase, you will have have done the level 35 riding skill quest and own a normal speed mount already since you will be forced to trade a mount in for this receipt. Unfortunately this is not a way to earn a free mount.

House Decorations & Other
These items are purchased from any “Fall Festival Trader” located within each of the festival areas. Items are purchased with ordinary Fall Festival Tokens.

Just as a hint from your friendly minstrel friend, the Cowbell can be taught by Minstrels level 36 and up. It is a cheap item at one token but if you’re saving up for something special (like a pony) I’d leave that one be since it can be learned anytime, not just during this festival.

You said that you need 40 tokens and then 12 additional tokens to get your horse from a festival trader. If you go to the Horse Ranch North of the Festival Grounds and talk to, I believe his name is Cam, you only need 6 tokens not 12. So all together you are looking at 46 tokens and a receipt. Thought I would pass that on. Everyuki needs to be credited for this find.
