Last night I was chatting with my kinmate, Dyranor, who was hard at work slaughtering crawlers for a deed. He mentioned that he was basically a completionist when it came to deeds but the extra quest slots were nice too.
Huh? What extra quest slots?
This was something I honestly hadn’t noticed but he was right. Upon closer inspection, I realized that all of my characters had a different number of active quests allowed in their quest log.
The default number of active quests that every new character starts with is 40. You gain new active quest slots by completing deeds. Any old deed counts, not just advanced deeds.
For every 40 deeds completed, your maximum number of active quests will increase by 1. The cap for the number of active quests is 50. It would take 400 completed deeds to get the maximum number of active quest slots!
I really like this system. This isn’t a huge benefit in the long run but does give a little reward to those taking the time to grind out deeds. For me it’s just more incentive to keep plugging away at the deeds. I wanted to complete them all anyway but now that I know there’s an additional bonus to my character, I’m even more motivated!

That’s a great tidbit – I had no idea that was the case. I had assumed that the maximum available quests climbed with your level. Neat!

I would bet most people have no idea about this! I had heard it before but reminders are always welcome.

I never knew WHY it was happening. Good catch!

So I just had a kin-mate point this out on this topic – if you mouse over your quests available/max you’ll see how many more traits you need for the next quest slot.

Oh how cool! I’m very interested in getting home to see this now!

Wow I’d never noticed that either, like Talbot I just assumed it was related to level, that’s awesome! Though it might send me now into OCD overdrive on completing those deeds :/

I’ve become a total deed slut since I learned about this. Currently sitting at a 48 quest limit, and 24/40 towards 49. Spending an awful lot of time in Sarnur lately, and jumping all over any PUGs for any Tham Mirdain instance — that’s a metric buttload of Pale-Folk to kill right there.

Wow, this is a great tip! I always thought it was based on level as well. Although my lvl 34 Hunter just got bumped from 40 to 41 max quests, and I can’t believe I’ve done 50 deeds already…just doesn’t seem possible! But I guess I’m thinking of the slayer deeds as being one, when they’re really two-parters.
