Hidden Food Related Titles

I have already discussed the hidden emotes and titles available through the emote system. Those aren’t the only easter eggs Turbine added to LOTRO for us. There are seven special titles available based on what your character eats in game.
These titles are all food related which make them great titles for Hobbits to display. I also can see them being used to help take a part in your role-play sessions.
Each title has separate requirements to receive but all require you to eat in-game food to receive the title. You can eat the items in any order and they don’t need to be all gulped down in the same play session. These are very casual friendly titles allowing you to take your time to complete them in your own time. Some will have a level requirement on it based on the type of food you are required to eat.
If you are planning on purchasing the food, note that some can be found in several titles. For example you’ll find Mushroom Pie as a requirement for 2 different titles. If items are shared with other titles, I have placed an asterisk (*) after the listing.
Players who are cooks can typically make most of the items listed below depending on their skill level. The Pie-Eating Champion may be the only one not requiring a cook. However, you are not limited to cooks (and the auction house) to finish these quests as some humanoid monsters will drop some of these foods on their own. I know I’ve picked up Delicious Crispy Bacon and Eggs & Onions off my enemies before. These are more random as to if you can or will get these items so my advice is to befriend a good cook!
You will have to try to keep track on your own as there is no deed in your deed log to help you remember how many of these items you have actually eaten. Or you can just do like I did and start pigging out on food until I got the title.
The Lorebook entry for this title has a nice recipe breakdown as to what a cook would need to make all these items as well as a cost breakdown. Don’t you just love number nerds?
The minimum level required in order to eat Hobbiton Omelet is level 30 so you will have to be at least that to receive this title.
Completing this will make the deed “Breakfast Expert” pop up in your alerts and will grant you the title “Breakfast Connoisseur”!
- 3 Roast Pork
- 3 Coney Pie
- 3 Pork Sausage
- 3 Coney Stew
- 3 Steak & Kidney Pie *
- 3 Beef Stew
- 3 Delicious Crispy Bacon *
- 3 Pork Chops
- 3 Salted Beef Delights
- 3 Roasted Chicken
- 3 Delicious Steak
- 3 Roast of Heroes
Roast of Heroes is a item from a cooking quest, A Taste of Skill, Part IV. It also can be obtained via a quest in Evendim called Impure Waters (level 45). Merric and his many crafting alts tells me that he has been able to pick up the roast recipe more than once so again, a friendly cook may be your best bet in getting this completed. Minimum level to eat this roast is 30.
Eating all these items will grant you the deed “Carnivore” as well as your new title.
7 Mushroom Pies * - 7 Coney Pies
- 7 Steak & Kidney Pies *
- 7 Spiced Apple Pies
- 7 Perfect Pies
You will receive the deed “Pie Maven” as well as the new title after eating all these pies. This deed has a built in level cap as Perfect Pie requires you to be level 40 to consume them.
This isn’t a set of food items to eat at all but a random quest you can obtain in the Bree Festival Grounds. There is a 33% chance that on any in-game morning (not necessarily your morning time) there will be a Pie Eating Contest. This quest takes some persistence (or plain luck) to get. I left my character in that area after each play session and happened to be lucky enough to find myself logging in at the right time.
In case you were wondering: 1 day in LOTRO = 3 hours and 6 minutes. So if you don’t have any luck you can try again in about 3 hours.
The quest is obtained from Humbert Sandheaver and requires you to eat 6 pies quickly. There are many ways to do it such as click spamming the next pie while eating one or hovering and being ready. This quest wasn’t terribly difficult to complete, it was more tricky to try to find the quest. This quest is listed as level 1 quest so anyone can do it!
Note: if there are more than 2 people attempting this quest, no one will win as there will not be enough pies that spawn in game for anyone to complete the requirements.
- 6 Mushroom Pies *
- 6 Fried Mushrooms
- 6 Cooked Carrots
- 6 Stuffed Cabbage
- 6 Vegetable Medley
- 6 Ultimate Carrot Cake
Again you will have to wait until level 40 to complete this title as the Ultimate Carrot Cake has a level 40 requirement on it. Ultimate Carrot Cake is also a quest reward for Evil in Ost Elendil (Level 45 and grants 2 cakes as a selectable reward) and Guiding the Shadow (Level 45 and grants 5 cakes as a selectable reward.
There’s a note on the Lorebook entry that superior versions of these recipes don’t count. I’m not certain that is true since all other of these types say that it doesn’t matter if you use superior or not. But it certainly something to take into consideration so you don’t spend money on items that don’t count.
Eating all these items opens the now completed deed of “Vegetable_Master” as well as your new “Vegetarian” title.
The Unwise
This one isn’t listed in the Lorebook that I can find but I did see an entry for it over on Lotro-Wiki. I have not done this yet but the wiki says it is a title and you do eat something so I believe it counts.
It comes from eating Barrow-bree cheese. This cheese drops from wights in Haudh Iarchith and is bind on acquire so you will not find these on the auction house. This dungeon is for levels 40+ so again there will be a bit of a wait before you can romp in there searching for nasty cheese.
I’d recommend having someone who can heal near-by or a set of potions handy if you plan on eating this cheese as it puts a damage over time debuff on you that lasts for 20 minutes. It may not even phase a higher level or a someone with a lot of morale but the lighter squishier classes may notice the damage.
The Lorebook has an entry for this title but no details. I found on Lotro-Wiki that you can get this title by eating 100 pieces of lembas. Lembas is a level 40 food item so you will have to wait until you reach that level to start your eating.
The name of the deed is “Lembas, Waybread of the Galadhrim” and after stuffing your face with Lembas you’ll get the deed marked as complete as well as the “Cake-eater” title. This is another title I have yet to get but I totally need to become “Goldenstar the Cake Eater” so count on it happening in the future.

Nice summary, was only talking about this last night in game as my mid-30 group dropped by Giant Valley. Think the meal you refer to might be ‘Roast of Heroes’, rather than ‘Roasted Heroes’.
Some of these titles are certainly rare and stand out in the crowd when in places like 21st Hall.

I did actually have visions of hoards of players trying to catch and cook Aragorn just to get a title.

This is great. Generally speaking, these are comparatively easy titles to get, and remember that the deeds will count towards your questlog bonus. Maybe I’ll even be able to hit a 50 quest limit….

Agreed great summary! I’d never heard how you got ‘The Unwise’ title before, it would be perfect for a certain hobbit I travel with so I foresee spending a bit of time in Haudh Iarchith in my near future
