Most thankful for my husband. Met him day of launch at a kin party 2 1/2 years ago. About to celebrate our second anniversary. Best loot from a video game. Ever. :)

I think the poll is a little unfair for me. The answer “The Lore” beats out everything else. Perhaps you could frame the question using only aspects of the game that affect game play instead of world creation. For me the world in LOTRO that Turbine has created overshadows everthing else. That isn’t to say that the lore is what makes the game here (for me). If the gameplay were bad this would be a dissapointing situation. It is to Turbine’s credit that they have done the lore of Arda justice which is a huge compliment to them. To make my point one last time I would like to be able to answer this poll again using only game play features such as: Mounts, Crafting, Kinships, and Housing. Thank you.

With the recent news of a split in my kinship, I have to vote I’m actually most thankful for my kinship. Or kinships rather. Regarding the split, I still retain many of the friends I’ve made and will be continuing to play with many of them. And for my “adopted” family, if you will, in Cor Pethroni and my fellow bloggers. Well, I can’t quite call you guys fellow bloggers as I no longer blog, but still. It really is the community that has kept me involved with this game and that will continue.

I voted for “my kinship” since even without the game, I’d still have the wonderful lore of Tolkien (just not Turbine’s interpretation of it, which is also pretty wonderful). But having a kin full of cool people makes the game so much more enjoyable to me. It’s just no fun to play alone!

I have to agree with Phebe. While the lore is very good and sets the mood of the world, it is my kinship that keeps me coming back for more.

You missed my answer–The Music System. This is a truly unique feature in the MMO world. Other fantasy games have lore, kins, mounts, crafting, and housing. But only LOTRO has a built-in music system. Truly something to be thankful for!
