Wiped on Udunion, then decided to just go in and DPS him down, without using the staff, horn or scroll. And it actually worked! Sure, we took some serious beating, but we did take him down. And the Udinion fight is a really fun and challenging fight - we used to farm him loads during the SoA days, trying to see how few people we could do it with. Best we did was 4.
