This is a very special and extra long episode of A Casual Stroll to Modor where we sit down to chat with Turbine Developers Brian “Zombie Columbus”, Joe “jwbarry”, Tim “Raskolnikov”. We talk about their positions at Turbine and ask them your questions that you sent in.
They also were so kind to give us a big scoop to a major change to Skirmishes that is coming with Volume III, Book 1. I’m not going to spoil it but it is about the most asked question we received for these guys. I’m certain most of you will be super happy to hear about it. That’s why you’re getting this episode in the middle of the week. We couldn’t wait!
This is a very long episode so we left out the news and other chatter that we usually do just to give you as much of the interview as we could possibly cram into your ears.
A special thank you to Brian, Joe and Tim as we had a great time chatting with them. They are some really funny guys and we appreciate them staying late at work just to sit and chat with us for a couple hours.

A great interview with some nice scoops! Well done!

Yeah, my question was more of it being like “currency”, yes. I didn’t phrase it was well as I would have liked haha.
I’d especially like that with the marks. Glad to see it’s something they’re wanting to do at some point.

Sorry Tony, I was the one who screwed up your question. But it sounds like Xaan had the same question so at least it got answered!

Hopefully we’ll see this too. I wonder if there’s a reason why it’s not being released soon. Or if there’s something they’re going to plan to take it even further than previously imagined.

great interview guys, it’s great to see you get the big scoop on the 2-man skirms too!
Thanks for staying up late and editing to get this out, very much appreciated!

I really enjoyed the interview. It was full with some nice information about the upcoming book.
Will there be another episode this week?
February 4, 2010 at 2:21 pm
What? 2-1/2 hours of us wasn’t enough?
I think merric is planning on still doing a short news and updates post this weekend since we couldn’t fit it in here.

Guys, that was awe_some! I listened to it as I took my new grd from 16 to Undying. Made me want to get one of my skirmishing characters out instead (especially when I almost died thanks to ‘awesome town’). Great interview, questions and answers. Thanks so much to all involved!

Thank you very much for hosting this interview, and very much indeed to the Devs for the Skirmish changes !

Great interview guys!
Nice to hear about the shared storage being built to expand. I’ve found that VERY useful. Transferring stuff between alts is great, but it also serves a nice purpose that was a royal pain before — looking through a pile of crafting recipes and pick out the duplicates (since it shows the item names and alphabetizes).
Skirmishes are fun right now… and I know those guys were very wed to it. But quite honestly, I don’t want to see it become *too* much of a focus.
When you boil it down, skirmishes really are just instance-dungeons. I’ve played games that were heavily instance-dungeon focused (City of Heroes/Villains, for example), and the game just got old too quickly.

Hehehe, thanks for that. I enjoyed listening to the interview, thanks to both you guys and the devs for the time.
February 6, 2010 at 2:05 pm
Great interview… laughed a lot with you guys.
February 6, 2010 at 8:01 pm
And about PVMP? Are we getting something???? This is a one sided game, PVE.
If you like PVP dont buy that.
February 8, 2010 at 9:11 am
The Skirmish Devs would like to do a lot with PvMP and Skirmishes, and they’ve gone as far as pricing out what the cost would be to develop the system. Beyond that, I’m not sure where it stands.
However, that being said I have requested from Turbine to interview people who are working on developing the PvMP side of the game and hopefully we can get an interview with someone who can focus on this (neglected) aspect of the game.
