In this section, we take a look at the new Cosmetic Items for sale through the Cosmetic vendors that are located in the Bullroarer Skirmish camps. In order to find them, set the “Filter by Profile” drop-down menu to read “Rift Cosmetic Clothing”. These new items include a cloak, a top hat, a fisherman’s backpack and the Rift helms! All of these items are wearable by all classes (even the Rift Helms) but are not purchasable with the existing Campaign Marks. It looks like with the new skirmish “Rift Rescue” we will also be obtaining a new Campaign, and along with it a new Campaign Mark, the Lefnuilan Campaign Mark. This campaign currently only contains “Rift Rescue”, but I would assume that there will be future Skirmishes that will fall into this campaign released as Volume 3’s books are released.
Personally, I can see a few outfits that I want to assemble with this gear. So far I want the cloak, the hauberk, the top hat, and at least one of the helms (although I’m not sure which). These items are great and I have to say a big thanks to both the Skirmish and the Art Teams for making this happen!

Are just the helms avaliable or other parts from the rift-set too? I need the shoulders for my Guardian so much! They are the only shoulder armor that look like a shoulder armor…

Right now it’s just the helms available.
February 8, 2010 at 7:43 am
Well, perhaps with the next books we’ll get the other parts too
I just hope the drop rate of this campaign mark is a little better than the others, as 10 marks from a single skirm can be a nasty grind.

If I remember correctly, I believe they are considering releasing the rest of the Rift armor in future updates depending on the popularity of the helms. So since the Rift armor is probably one of, if not “the” most cosmetically loved sets; I think we’ll see them in the future.

Does anyone know if this new skirmish is open to all, or if it requires completion of an Epic quest?
February 8, 2010 at 11:44 am
I believe it is like the other Mirkwood skirmishes and requires an epic book quest to open it.

Goldenstar is correct; it’s opened via the Epic Storyline. (Vol 3, Book 1)

Thanks!
Semi-related, I’m quite looking forward to seeing all the Volume 1 Epics I was locked out of before for want of a regular gaming group.
Orion: let us praise him with great praise!

The cool part of this is that alot of people will now have some really cool helms available to them now. Some of these fit well with a rohan themed character, or a ranger…..it was a really great decision overall from Turbine.

So basicaly, they are making going into the rift to get the rare armour pieces and hours of play utterly pointless. Great. Now every heavy armour will look the same. Before it was a respected set. Now every chump in the game will have them. Why cant they leave the rift set as it is now? Its much better when its extremely hard to get. When you see a full Rift set you think ‘Veteran’, but not anymore.
