Episode 27: 3.1 = Fun

Episodes from 2010, Podcast

FerndurThis week we share a bit about our adventures in Angmar killing some of the raid landscape beasts, Ferndur and Bogbereth. Goldenstar was lucky enough to get both trophies for her house ut was a little miffed (or perhaps disgusted) when she plopped down Ferndur’s head and discover flies buzzing around it. Ick!

Goldenstar ran into some bad luck when her Runekeeper died at level 19 preventing her from getting the “Undying” title. So that RK was promptly deleted and Goldenstorm the new elven RK was born! Merric got his captain to level 30 and has started working on his Minstrel as his next alt. He also talks about his numerous successes with skirmishes.

During our main topic we talk a bit about the official release notes and what we are particularly excited for with this new patch!

From Harperella of Landroval:

Hello Merric and Goldenstar!

Keep up the wonderful work! Your podcasts continue to be incredibly entertaining and informative. They are always at the top of my podcast playlists.

I thought you might give our weekly RP event, Ales and Tales a shout out. As far as I know, it is the only event of its kind in all of LOTRO. Each week, we get together at a different pub or tavern. The participants then have fun roleplaying their parts in the pub atmosphere, while various players tell stories, play music, or just drink themselves silly. We are always dancing each week singly, in pairs, and in larger groups. I think its a great way for people to ease into the fun that is roleplaying, since you can just sip an ale in the corner and watch the drama scroll by, or grab a partner and get out on the dance floor. And this has all been going every single Monday night since last August! Read all about it in this thread;http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=285907 There’s lots of pictures, some fun little stories, and even transcripts of what you might expect at an Ales and Tales.

From Celeodor from Windfola:

Heya you two:

I went back and listened to episode 14 (ive listened to them all out of order), had to laugh when you two were talking about what you named you goat mounts that you got from the adventures pack and mentioned that you might name the goat Clover. On Bullroarer right now, when someone buys horses (I don’t know I’d this is on the live servers), they all come with a present name (which of course can be charged), and the default name for the goat is Clover! Oh man I laughed so hard when I remembered that. :D

Just wanted to share the laugh and say that the podcast is amazing! Take care!

By the way, I couldn’t stop laughing when Goldenstar said that she couldn’t use the upgraded remove dread! :D

Yeah and while we only had I think 6 of us Fendur was still pretty tough. At least I thought. I was terrified I was going to kill Kaelin at any moment!

Another great episode guys- sorry to hear you got a cold Goldenstar- get well soon.

OMG- so pleased you read my achievement, sounds lame but I’m sure you guys know that when it comes to casual mature players with families, getting 12 people in one place with enough gear is pretty freakin hard!

I’m with Merric- whats the damn rush to get to Mordor (casual strolling is much better) lets see the Brown Lands and Fangorn before Rohan, and If they want to go North to the Lonely Mountians and North Wirkwood; Great, gets my vote!

    Get well soon, Goldenstar.

I’d guess Turbine would focus on Isengard/Fangorn next… and Rohan after that.

I suspect they’ll release the North Mirkwood/Dale/Lonely Mountain areas around the time the Hobbit movie comes out (2012 last I heard).

I’d **LOVE** a skirmish that lets us experience Dale’s battle with Smaug, and maybe a new raid or PvMP area that ties to the Battle of Five Armies. I don’t care that those things happened 70 years ago in game-time, I still wanna see them. Maybe we could talk to old wrinkly Bard of Dale, and have the game kick into flashback mode… similarly to the Cave of Time trips in WoW.

Feel better Goldenstar. Sorry about your RK…good luck on your next one.

I am most impressed with the LM run of the turtle, where does one find that many LMs?

I run trouble in Tuck all the time and it has had a chest for weeks. So not a major new change…

Love battle in the tower. Big fan of the offensive skirmishes because you can go AFK if needed. I love killing Mazog in the tower.

More Cowbell! Moor Cowbell! What I need is Moor Cowbell…(Classic SNL)

I really didn’t expect much from the new Volume 3 book, but it turned out to be quite a bit of fun.
