Episode 28: My Mom Said I Gotta

March 8, 2010 | by

Episodes from 2010, Podcast

In this episode, we discuss our first run in a duo skirmish. We had very differing views of the duos but overall I believe we both think they are a great addition. We discuss the mobs we ran into and the new Leech-Warden lieutenant.

Goldenstar’s runekeeper is 16 and Merric’s minstrel is now level 26. Merric has started the Volume III, Book 1 quests and is not going as quickly as most people are talking about because he’s choosing rewards rather than the quick travel options.

Just for reference, Merric talks about what skill he gets when he was 4 and I comment “I love Pure Pwnage”. If you haven’t seen Pure Pwnage before it’s pretty funny even if it is WoW centric.

I’ve listened to all your podcasts and treasure your balanced approach.

I share your ‘casual’ perspective and have almost no interest in raiding or studying the minutiae of combat statistics. However, I detest defeats, especially because they seem to be more frequent lately.

When you talk about traits, or changing to a different ‘build,’ I feel lost.

When I look at new(er) players, some gaps are often obvious, such as “you need a new [whatever].” Is it possible some experienced players could look at others and provide that same guidance?

Hey you two, Celeodor again: A bit of info abot the new LM and RK skill upgrades:

The LM skill air lore right now on live is 1 minute duration 1 minute cooldown with a 1 second induction. I looks cool, but i’ve found that for at least 2 seconds after casting, I can’t use any other skills. So that all that together makes a skill that I don’t really use much (although I will throw it on the tank before a fight). The upgrade will make it a toggle.

The RK skill on live right now is a toggle that you can cast on yourself or someone else (as long as they are in your fellowship) that

when that person is hit with melee damage, the attacking mob gets a short-duration debuff in the form of loss of resistance to the curent affinity of the RK’s stone. The upgrade also gives tactical and range buff (1%) to the person that it is active on.

Can’t wait to hear more!

P.S. – Not trying to put you right or say that I’m elite, just passing on somethings that I know :) Love the show and looking forward to the next episode!

Emma and I tried a duo on my heal traited level 39 RK with protector soldier, and her 39 Champion with herbalist. Firstly we did Gondamnon and we did great until the last boss, we missed interupting or turning the dragon and he fire aoe’d and I went down like a sack of crap! They we did Tookborough, and man that was pretty tough. The final boss summoned 2 lieutenants like in the three man and I crapped myself and had to try dive back from DPS to heal mode… we died. Anyways we tried again, and got a 2 priest dude…. we died.

You see pattern? Anyways we decided I needed to full heal, and get our shit together with regards to the order we killed the lieutenants, and we breezed through it. I think it was tougher than solo deffo, but I really really enjoyed the challenge and think it is something fun to try and master when we both have some time to kill. (Its also really usefull to level through the 38-41 dead zone!)

Another great show guys- and we finally made a blog! Hopefully I can send you guys a link soon!

The only reason I listen to your show is because it’s not blacklisted ;-) . Through the palantir would have been more my style, but it is blacklisted due to being hosted on blogspot ;-) .

There’s only a dozen hunters in the kinship, surely someone is willing to drag two hobbits across Middle-earth a few times.

Oh, by the way, soloing all of volume 1 is a myth.

You don’t get an elf-stone for book 10 chapter 5? Whichever one requires you to go past lots of elites and then kill some signature angmarim which all group together and cannot be pulled individual.

You also don’t get an elf-stone for Book 13 Chapter 6? Whichever one requires you to go to the dourhand cave in forochel and recover the book of heraldry. Some of the pulls in that dourhand cave have 5+ normals.

The part of Book 11 where you’re supposed to find and defeat two specific wood trolls in the wood troll cave in Tal Bruinen doesn’t give you an elf stone, either.

Goldenstar and Merric, great podcast as usual.

Goldenstar, you mentioned in the podcast that there was a site or link to a Minstrel Build Guide, can you post the link when you get the chance.

You guys entetertain me on my drive to and from work each day, and have inspired me to move my two main characters (Thurley, 47 Mini and Hurlo, 34 Hunter) to Landrovel, to join my newly created Dwarf RK (Thurlo, 11).

Look forward to seeing you all in game.
