About Veneration

Hello everyone, My name is Veneration. I’m a web designer and student from Mid-Michigan and a massive Tolkien Lit fan. I figured I’d give everyone a look into what makes me tick and share with you my love of Community, Literature and Gaming!

Community

There are very few things that inspire me like seeing people work together under a united goal. People gathering to share and collaborate with one another. The internet has opened a huge opportunity for this to happen. From Medical Students to YoYo Enthusiasts, the internet has become a strong and powerful tool for people to connect over huge distances with no more than a internet connection and computer. Gaming has taken this one step further with the advent of MMOs. Players have the ability to see each other, talk with each other and work together to conquer challenges or problems that alone would not be possible. Economies and Kinships, Allies and Enemies. Community drives gaming, and gaming gives an outlet for creative nature.

Literature

From a young age reading was an important part of who I was. Tolkien literature shaped my interests and molded my love of history, fantasy and geography. Books like Eregon, DnD inspired novels and fan-fiction help to push my love of fantasy forward. With this love of writing comes my love of contributing to the story. I love to blog and write guides related to LOTRO and other games. Along with my love of community, Literature gives me an outlet to contribute.

Gaming

Long long ago, in a dimly lit basement with a single core Win98 Computer a boy found Ultima Online. Oh God did his parents have something comin!
Like most long time MMO fans, UO was the starting point. The first modern MMO, Ultima Online broke new ground in the fields of Online Economic Game Systems, Stat Based Sand Box Mechanics and Player Run Vendors! It was awesome to say the least. From there out I was hooked. Once UO started to die down I moved to EQ. There I ran a large guild of 300 members with weekly events. In 2003 I jumped on the trend bandwagon and tried out World of Warcraft. After loosing one job, one gf and my dignity the only thing I had gained was the realization that I needed a new hobby. I started rock climbing and took a break from MMOs. I started competing in CPL and CAL league events and began my semi-pro tour in CS:S (Counter Strike: Source). I continued playing CS:S for nearly a year before stumbling upon an article about a new MMO in the works. Middle Earth Online! With a hugely popular online community and over 5 thousand members in the first 3 months, MEO was destined to be huge! After some changes in licensing and rights, Turbine began development of what we now know as LOTRO.
With a start in Closed Beta that moved to Beta 1 and Open testing, LOTRO has become a tool for work and a means of relaxation and inspiration for myself and many of my friends to this day!

With gaming taking up a lot of my time, I also enjoy music. I teach and write music as a hobby and play Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums and Sax (a little saxophone, I’m no Bill Clinton…pfft).
I also have a love for art. From my own Tattoos to my web design art contributes to my income and my inspiration. I also enjoy rock climbing and boldering!

So, I hope this gives you a little insight into myself and my interests. I hope you will enjoy my additions to the site and the LOTRO Community as a whole.
